Ah, Saguaro School. The site of so many childhood memories, both treasured and/or traumatic. Memorable faculty: Miss Franke. A teacher among teachers. Mrs Bordelieu, an outstanding 5th grade class. Mr Cragen was the coolest. "Head 'em up and moooove 'em out!" Mr Pederson was cool and creepy. Ms Tillotson was a babe and made me love art to this day. Three trips to the principal (that I recall), countless trips to the school nurse (who took your temperature no matter what), umpteen hearing tests, vision tests, field days, school dances and basketball practices. This site is fantastic! My brother sent me a picture (the one of Ms. Franks class) that has a picture of my oldest brother in it! What a hoot! All 3 of us kids attended this school and have great memories. I remember movies in the cafeteria on Saturdsay eating popcorn, field day, the candy truck outside the field (where we were not allowed to go), playing marbles in the playground, seeing who can do the best dismounts from the bars......Oh the mind starts going back. Thank you for sharing this with everyone. For those of us who are lucky enough to find out about this site, it surely is a pleasant trip into the past. Tambra Nelson (Graduated 1978)

Hey John: I just stumbled on to this site and was pleasantly surprised. It brought back a lot of memmories that I have not thought about in a long time. The names that flood back from the past are to numerous to mention. Do you keep in touch with anyone from our graduating class. I would love to know how some of them are doing. I certainly remember you and Mark Wells and Glen Eide. I heard years ago that Paul Marina had died. Thanks for the non-chemicaly induced flash backs. David Blatnik

I remember the school well even though I went for grades 1 and most of 2. My family left Arizona for NC in April 1965. I was very sad to leave my friends behind. I remember a Mrs. Landon...didn't quite like her. Where is she now? One of my friends was Bobby Knapp. Anyone know where he is today? When on a short recess break in the first grade in 1963, we would go to the fence and look across the road. All we saw was desert, shrubs, etc....not one house. My walk to school included going down an alley, walking next to a house and then under the fence at the edge of the playground! I remember seeing 6th graders and wondering if I would be as smart as they seemed. The future appeared to be hard. I graduated from high school in Raleigh, NC in 1975. Then I got my B.S. in civil engineering from N.C. State Univ. in 1980, graduated summa cum laude. I believe that the first 2 years at Sahuaro had a large impact on my education! Now, I live in La Jolla, CA. Bryan L. Court noblefirfan at yahoo dot com.

Pedersen was a piece of work. I had him for seventh grade home room and English. He would audio tape himself giving the weekly spelling test beforehand so that he could just push the play button for each class. He then would proceed to put his feet up on his desk and read Mad magazine while his students labored over the test. Whenever I need to be an insufferable SOB, I reach back 40 years and channel Pedersen. Charlie 'Chuck' Bueker, class of '70
