Janitors Closet
Janitors Closet, the legendary subterranean Chris-Town tavern, debuted in 1966 near the Court of Flowers and was an immediate hit. The only marker indicating the location of the bar was a small mailbox at the top of the narrow staircase, giving the Closet a charmingly clandestine flavor. A second location was later opened at Tower Plaza. Above is a 1970 advertisement that appeared in Phoenix Magazine.
